Efficiently managing taxes is essential for keeping your business compliant and organized. The Tax Settings feature in Stack simplifies this process, allowing you to add, manage, and apply taxes seamlessly. This tool saves time, reduces errors, and enhances financial operations.

The Tax Settings feature in Stack helps businesses streamline tax management, making it easier to add, manage, and apply taxes as needed. This feature allows you to set up multiple tax rates, providing flexibility for various products or services. It ensures accurate invoicing and compliance with regional tax regulations, reducing the risk of errors and legal issues.

  1. Navigate to Payments > Tax Settings.
  2. Click Add Tax.
  3. Fill out the details: tax name, percentage rate, optional description, and tax ID.
  4. Click Add Tax. Your tax will now appear in the list.
  • Use the “Actions” dropdown to delete a tax.
  • To add a tax to an invoice, go to Payments > Invoices.
  • When creating or editing an invoice, click Add Tax under a product.
  • In the Add Taxes popup, select the tax(es) you wish to add.
  • Click Save to confirm. The tax will be calculated in the invoice.

Note: The Tax Settings feature is currently available only for invoices.

For regions like the EU, UK, and North America, integrating Stripe’s tax management can simplify tax handling. This workaround supports SaaS direct payment links, offering flexibility and accuracy.

Can I use multiple tax rates?

Yes, both methods allow you to create and apply multiple tax rates for different products, services, or customer locations.

What happens if a customer changes their location?

Update the customer’s tax rate based on their new address. In Stack, update the taxes on their invoice. For Stripe, update their subscription.

Can I apply taxes to one-time purchases?

Yes, you can apply taxes to one-time purchases using the Tax Settings feature or by creating tax rates in Stripe.

How do both methods handle refunds?

  • In Stack, adjust tax amounts manually on the refunded invoice.
  • In Stripe, taxes are automatically calculated and refunded based on the original transaction.

Can I generate tax reports?

  • Export invoice data from Stack and use third-party tools for reports.
  • Export transaction data from Stripe for similar reporting.

How do I handle tax changes or updates?

  • In Stack, update tax rates in your list and apply to new invoices.
  • In Stripe, revise tax rates and update subscriptions accordingly.
